Our Award Winner Is Ginger Marks

It seems like only yesterday when I wrote my first book, but in fact, it was 14 years ago. With no one to guide me, I made some wrong choices and vowed to find a better way and share it with others. Since then, I have offered guidance to countless authors who sought to realize their dream of being a published author.

In 2015, I was appointed to the FAPA board of directors. Serving authors and FAPA has been a joy and a privilege that I am grateful for every single day. I wouldn’t be able to do that if it weren’t for all the amazing people who continue to strive for excellence in their writing and publishing endeavors.

You who are here tonight, are counted among the elite. When you mention that you are an author, people look at you like you are someone special. And in fact, you are! Each and every one of you has accomplished a level of excellence in your writing that has now been recognized by not only the general public, but also your peers. I applaud you!

I am honored to receive the FAPA Founder’s Award and in doing so I want to recognize a couple of people who have been my rock and support over the years. First, I am grateful to my husband and business partner, Philip, who has devoted countless hours as my editor and chief critic, offering a word of advice here and there, when needed, and to my mother, Dawn Batterbee-Miller, who is herself, a published author and my biggest fan.

Thank you so much to the Florida Authors and Publishers Association board, and the wonderfully talented team that I have had the privilege to work with and support over the years for recognizing me with this prestigious award. I look forward to continuing to support you as you work toward fulfilling your mission to serve authors, publishers, and other professionals involved in the Florida publishing industry in the coming years.

Lastly, I wish to thank you for the opportunity to serve you, the FAPA members!
