HISTORY
The Florida Authors and Publishers Association, Inc., was originally organized in 1983 as the Florida Publishers Group by Betty Wright (Rainbow Books, Inc.). The original membership was only six individuals. Its purpose was to provide Florida’s growing group of book publishers with an opportunity for education and networking and to provide its members with a clearinghouse for publishing information. The Florida Publishers Group soon became Florida Publishers Association (FPA). In 2012, FPA was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) and in 2013 expanded the name to Florida Authors and Publishers Association (FAPA) to include a steadily increasing number of authors within the organization.
