Meet member Donalyn Kent, author of Painting for Honey Bees
Shares her love of children's books and honey bees with her books
Donalyn has had a passion for writing for as long as she can remember. Unfortunately for years, she chose to keep her passion all to herself. Finally, she has decided to share her love of story telling with the rest of us, specializing in children story books for all to love, young and old.
Living in Europe for three years as well as her continued travels around the U.S. and Caribbean, Donalyn has managed to calculate sixteen states and eight countries. Her travels have afforded her wonderful knowledge of various cultures and traditions only enhancing her story-telling ability.
Helping others understand the importance of various issues through her story-telling has inspired Donalyn to expand her interests, creating more diversity for her readers. The best part for her personally: being able to work from home while researching and creating these wonderful stories for us to enjoy.
Based on a true story and inspired by a beloved beekeeper uniquely named Unkle Ray, this picture book blossoms with its educational twist on the importance of our busy little pollinators – honey bees!! Throughout this charming story, young artists are colorfully engaged with honey bee knowledge. Why are beehives so important?? What is the difference between a nest and a beehive?? These are just a few of the interesting questions that are discussed throughout the story and detailed with beautiful water - colored art. It’s a delightful tale and visually nurtures honey bee awareness for all readers (young and old).
