Being raised with a motto of ?how hard can it be?? may have set author Patti Brassard Jefferson?s life into a interesting trajectory from the beginning. Being the girl who wrote stories and poetry and created masterpieces of art from yarn, crayons and empty bottles, led her to embrace her weirdness as youngster in upstate New York. Moving to Virginia in the 70?s, Jefferson continued to follow her artistic heart through ballet lessons and paper mache but she did not write.

It was in high school that she finally rediscovered her love of words, and while it would be decades before she published a book, she knew then that she would one day write something worthy of the printed page and the attention of readers.

Life gets in the way of even the most dedicated of writers and Jefferson was no exception. Finally, in 2013, with her daughter grown and creating her own adventures, the idea of an actual book took root. Armed with her mother?s motto, and new address in Florida, she launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund her children?s book, ?How Long Will You Love Me??. A fortuitous introduction to author/illustrator Mark Wayne Adams at a writer?s event sealed her fate. She began to seriously consider illustrating and writing children?s books as the next step in her journey.

Since 2013 she has written two children?s books (1 FAPA award) and illustrated nine others (2 more FAPA awards). Her works in progress include two more of her own children?s books, an illustration project, two books for new authors and her first novel. In 2015, she opened P.J. Boox, two bookstores that feature only independently and small-press published authors.

She is currently a member for the Gulf Coast Writers Association, a FAPA board member, and a partner member of The Alliance of Independent Authors.
