Meet Member Robert Thomas Lundy

Robert Thomas Lundy
Robert Thomas Lundy was born in Bethesda, Maryland, in 1947.? His father was a career naval officer, so he lived in a variety of places as a child, attending school in five states and two countries.? While growing up, the longest he ever lived in one place was the 5 years he spent in Coronado.
A promising career as a perpetual student at the University of California (San Diego, Santa Barbara, and Berkeley) was cut short by the untimely receipt of a Ph.D. in Demography.? He then worked for five years as a Demographer and Epidemiologist at Argonne National Laboratory.? Snow and tornadoes drove him back to California, where he taught briefly at U.C. Berkeley and worked as a Demographer and Systems Analyst for the Dialog Information Service in Palo Alto.? His career there ended after 17 years, 2 months, and 6 days (but who?s counting?) when the company was taken over by a would-be competitor and he was swept out in a massive opening-day layoff.? Following his departure from Dialog, he returned to the San Diego area where he worked in Software Engineering until his retirement.
His daughter?s interest in acting led him to an after-hours career in community theater, where he played a variety of roles both on stage and off, and was artistic director of a children?s after-school theater program in Alameda for six years.
He is an avid wilderness enthusiast and is a volunteer instructor for the Sierra Club?s Wilderness Basics Course.
When not traveling with his partner-in-rhyme, Elizabeth Yahn Williams, he edits poetry books and writes poetry in Del Mar.
